The Heart Breaking Story Of Trey Sartorius
Interview through Instagram
This interview took place over Instagram @TreySartorius.
Let’s start from the beginning. Trey Sartorius was born May 30th, 2003 in Los Angeles, California. Mrs. Sartorius gave birth to her son at 9:00PM that afternoon. He was given up for adoption after being born.
Trey was adopted by an amazing family last named Sartorius. Jeremiah Sartorius adopted him. Sartorius was only five years of age when his adopted family realized Trey had a gift for acting.
Mrs. Sartorius quoted He would reenact shows in our living room, We would just fall out in enjoyment.
Let’s forward to the year 2009. Trey reached the age of six years old. His father enrolled him into acting courses. Where he spent two years learning his craft. In 2011, Trey auditioned for a Chuck E. Cheese commericial. This was his very first acting job.
Trey’s father quoted He was surprisedly not nervous. lets keep in mind this is his first acting call. He was very advanced for his age.
It was only a few weeks before Trey Sartorius got a call stating he got the part for the Chuck E. Cheese commercial. The family knew Trey had what it took to become an professional actor. Trey quoted -
I was so excited when I landed my first part. The world felt magical like everything or anything was possible. Most kids don’t land their first audtion. Some audtion hundreds of times before they receive a good call back. My case was special I auditioned for one thing and got it in my first try.
Later in 2015 Trey became an extra in Disney’s KC Undercover series. Shortly after booked a spot in the Nickelodeon popular series Game Shakers as a extra. Few months later if it wasn’t enough he booked another role. This series was called Henry Danger. He played the nephew of the superhero Captain Man. Trey was used as a extra in that series in Ray’s back story episode. After his debut in Henry Danger his career took off successfully.
Back in 2014, There was a platform called Musical.ly which is now TikTok. Musical.ly was a Chinese social media service headquartered in Shanghai with a US office in Santa Monica, California on which platform users created and shared short lip-sync videos. Trey’s username was Ayeitstrey. He lip-synced to popular songs on the platform. He was featured on the platform three times. and gained over five thousand followers.
This lead to Trey Sartorius gaining a social media career as well from acting. His parents were shocked that he gained so many followers from such a platform. His parents quoted -
We had no idea he joined this Musical.ly platform in the first place. When we seen how much traction our son was receiving we couldn’t let him not use the app. So we helped him manage his account.
Trey later mentioned that he didn’t expect to gain as many followers that he did. It was all for fun then it turnt into something big. Bigger than me to be exact. i had more responsibilities. Trey Sartorius started a actor and upgraded to a Muser.
As you thought a very big company purchased the platform Musical.ly later turned into TikTok in 2018. Trey thought he lost everything which included his followers and videos.
We thought I lost everything. I woke up and the app icon changed and i was logged out. then we receieved a notification that Musical.ly was changed to TikTok. Luckily Musical.ly merged data with TikTok. All I had to do was sign in again. So lucky I remembered my password. Some of my videos were gone but my followers transferred over to TikTok so I didn’t lose five thousand supporters.
Trey continued his social media career. What Trey forgot is that Musical.ly was gone and so was its algorithm. He realized TikTok was totally different from Musical.ly. Trey Sartorius began filming dances to the popular songs like Cardi B, Panda etc. His views weren’t so high as when he was on Musical.ly. A few months later Trey posted a reaction video to a satisfying clip. This gained over 3Million views. Trey quoted -
OMG!!!! I didn’t expect the video to blow up like It did. My phone was pinging off the roof and I was scared until I locked at my phone and seen all the likes.
Trey gained five thousand more followers from that video reached made his account have a total of 10K followers. He later changed his username from Ayeitstrey to Trey Sartorius. Which is his government name. His family created him a instagram page which they managed. This account soon reached 13K. Shortly after was deleted by Instagram without warning.
Later in the month Trey woke up to 49K TikTok followers. One of his other reaction videos gained 400K likes. Which made him become a well known actor and social media influencer. Trey still posts videos to this day gaining more followers everyday.
According to his parents Trey started getting sponsorships from major companies like PizzaHut, FiveBelow and Walmart. Trey’s parents quoted -
We seen Trey starting to get sponsorships which made us realize how big he has gotten. We got paid 20K just to do a PizzaHut commercial. FiveBelow paid us 10K just to have him advertise their new technology. We made a fortune.
In 2020 Trey’s net worth was around 2 Million dollars. Things took a turn for the worse though.
The Year It All Went Down 2021
Trey Sartorius is now 18 years old. We received a message that he had a juicy story for us. We didn’t realize how serious it was until we hard. We put all our personal gain behind us and wanted to hear and tell his story that truly needed to be heard. Our article will not be monitized. This article is how Trey Sartorius was taken advanged of as a teenage influencer and actor.
Trey Sartorius quoted -
Once, I had 600K in my bank account then 5 months later seen I had only 30K left. I knew something wasn’t right. I asked my parents about it and they said I never made such an amount or earned it over my years of acting and getting sponsorships. This is when I knew they were stealing my money. I worked for 10 years and only earned 30K not possible. I checked my personal account that only the child can get access to and that was gone too. that was for me when I turned “18” and somehow they stole that and acted like it never existed.
Trey later mentioned he told his friend Sydney Raynell. He briefed her of everything that occurred. She herself was shocked of how his parents could do such a thing. She met his mom over the phone and thought she was nice. He later told us that throughout the years he wasn’t happy on social media. That he was pushed into a situation of being the money maker of the family. This caused this young influencer much stress.
Sartorius quoted — It’s not like I could say anything. They managed everything. I filmed a video and they posted it. I didn’t even manage my Instagram neither Twitter. Everyone thought I was fine which they didn’t see what was occuring behind the screen. My life was horrible for 4 years that I was on social media being exploited for money. I didn’t know that I was being taking advantaged of until another mom saw what I was going through. Little did I know my family was also stealing thousand of dollars from me. We’ll lose our house soon because she spent everything I ever earned from my career in acting and social media.
Trey said he hasn’t told social media much about the issue except for a few people. One is the parent of the teenage influencer Danielle Cohn. Jennifer Archambault has been messaging Trey since the money issue occured. Trey quoted -
Mama Jen is amazing. Yes I said Mama Jen. She’s been more of a parent than my adoptive parents have been. Jen and her family has always been there for me. I owe them so much. When Danielle seen me getting attacked on social media she defended me majorly. I could never be able to repay them. Social Media needs to give them a break their such an amazing family. She’s a parent of two amazing babies Chad and Danielle. I told Jen about my mother and she was disgusted to hear such news. She even told me how to get my money that was supposedly saved for me by the state of California. When I checked that was also drained to zero dollars. I cried to Jen in the messages about this. She has been so helpful. I haven’t told her i’m going to be homeless soon because of how bad my mother destroyed my life. I can’t stay with anyone. I tried contacting my old Influencer friends and heard nothing. I did so much for them and when I need them they don’t see me. I’m so afraid to tell Jen because she’ll be so disappointed I didn’t tell her sooner. This is why I hope this Interview with Medium will sign light on child stars and how some are getting taken advantage of and you don’t know because our parents are controlling our social media. You see us smiling little do you know it may be a front that we are forced to make by our horrible parents that see we can make them a quick dollar.
Trey Sartorius has also brought to our attention that his parents believe it’s his fault for them going broke.
My Mom moved me from California where we make my money to Detroit for her little boyfriend that she would give our/my money to. There’s no oppunities here unlike LA. Some opportunities are in Canada but they didn’t pay much. When I didn't make the little commercials she got me she would yell at me constantly. I cried at night because she said we lost everything because of me. I believed her too. Little did I know she gave my money away and brought her boyfriend a house and car and spent it all on junk. One day I was on the phone with Sydney and she yelled at me for no reason. After my call with Sydney I cried because I couldn’t tell her what was happening. Later I got tired and told her my situation. She was of course disgusted. There wasn't much she could do but pray for me.
Sartorius later mentioned how he chatted with Ms. Raynell about coming back to Los Angeles, California. He simply can’t afford it he said.
I have nothing. When I tell you we have zero dollars. We have ZERO DOLLARS. If I could get back to LA and stay with someone I could make auditions fast and get me a place and move away from this horrible lady.
We later warped up the interview and I asked to one last question. How can people help prevent their favorite stars from being taken advantage of? Trey Quoted -
See here’s the thing. You can’t most of the time. Their rich so they can get out of anything without losing their money maker. aka their child. it’s sad all we can do is let those parents know we see the truth. We hope that the child isn’t damaged. We truly don’t know if social media is what these teens really want to do. I know i’m never leaving social media since it’s part of me. That doesn’t mean i’m not damaged from being manipulated and exploited by the person that was suppose to love me.
In conclusion social media isn’t always what it appears. We truly don't know what happen behind closed doors. This is Caroline Harkness with Today’s news.
